KYUNG SUK LEE
I am an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University. Prior to joining Yonsei, I was affiliated with the Department of Political Science and International Studies at Incheon National University. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the Department of Political Science at Texas A&M University.
My research agenda lies at the intersection of international security, nuclear politics, alliance politics, and the formation of public and elite opinion on global affairs. Substantively, I am interested in how nuclear deterrence dynamics, alliance structures, and strategic threat perceptions shape state behavior, policy choices, and public attitudes in both democratic and non-democratic contexts. Conceptually and methodologically, my work seeks to bridge security studies, political behavior, and international political psychology, combining theoretical rigor with empirical analysis.
A central objective of my scholarship is to connect high-level strategic politics with domestic political processes. I am particularly interested in how international security order is produced through the interaction of material power, political institutions, and societal beliefs. In teaching, I aim to provide students with strong theoretical foundations, analytical tools, and empirical skills necessary to engage critically with contemporary global challenges.
